Do I need to use DNS bind on a desktop?

I have four computers at home. One is linux only and the other 3 are windows. I want to do file sharing between machines. Do I need to use and DNS bind and samba to connect with them? Thx

No, it's only for translating zone.domains to IPs.

DNS Bind?
No need.

Samba?
Yes. Read this for easy set-up between Linux and M$ file-sharing connectivity. For further reading materials use internet search engines for key-words "linux windows samba".

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Thanks 2 all for the clarification. So samba is all I need. That's good, one less thing to configure. I saw a DNS bind video on youtube and it was confusing. Samba is so easier.
