Question Do any one know if I can open a session to another windows Xp machine from my linux

I want to do something between a Linux and a windows machine just like I can do between two windows xp machines using the "Remote Desktop" feature.

Can anyone tell me how can i connect similarly to a windows machine from a linux machine?

You need to install a remote desktop protocol (RDP) program. The most common of these is called rdesktop, which you should be able to install through your distro's package manager.

rdesktop is a command-line program.
If you need something GUI there is tsclient - frontend to rdesktop

Thumbs up

Its great help from both of you. Thanks.

I have installed both, is it correct that tsclient depends on rdesktop?

I have used

yum install rdesktop

and then

yum install tsclient

and it worked

I added the shortcut to the tsclient on the taskbar of FC9 on the top by right clicking and choosing

Add to Place -> Terminal Server Client Applet

between, desktop, linux, remote, windows
