dnsdomainname: Unknown host

Hello
I have just compiled the kernel for Gentoo as said in their Handbook. I tried this installation a couple of times before and I have seen this error message before.
When i compile the kernel it says:
dnsdomainname: Unknown host

What do I need in the kernel to get this error to disappear ?

I have been following the Gentoo Handbook slavishly!

Thanks

The kernel compilation routine shouldn't care anything about your DNS setup. Can you post a few lines of output right before that error? it would help to have a little context.

also when I boot up and come to the login screen, it just says "This is BaldurLaptop.unknown_domain..."

Can it have something to do with it?
