Dns Issue

Hello All,

I am learning Linux but I have a question....It may be a simple one. How do you add a DNS A Record via SSH in Linux.

I want to add the host name as a record with the correct Ip address.

Please advise.

Hi corarene,

I'm not an expert but i had my share of information.

If you are using bind9, there is a file called named.conf, which contains the files were those information is recorded.

It varies where is located and depend on your distribution.

But you can find using "sudo updatedb" an then "sudo locate named.conf".

I hope this will help you.

Regards.

You don't add A recs to named.conf, you add it to the correct zone file:
