dmesg deoesn't provide all the messages at boot

Hello, I would like to know how I can get all the messages displayed at boot.
I hav built a kernel 2.6.2, and there are many messages like

"Initializing USB controller (uhci): FATAL: Module uchi not found"

That I cannot catch with dmesg. How can I do ?

Cheers, xround.

dmesg | less
dmesg | more

Ok, I may have been not enough explicit.
I meant I cannot get the lines like
"Initializing USB controller (uhci): FATAL: Module uchi not found"
[FAILED]
even with
# dmesg | less

I know more and less commands. Is it possible to get these messages that dmesg DOESN'T provide?

Thanks, xround.

What level is syslog logging at? Root can go in a set what kinds and severity of messages get logged to the syslog.

check various /var/log files, most of what dmesg gets is from lilo/grub, and parts of these logs.

Thanks for your answers, sharper and ghost runner.

Sharper, how can I know "level is syslog logging at" ? Can I manage this level?

Ghost_runner, I found interesting files ksym.[1234], messages.[1234] and boot.log.[1234] concerning the boot messages.

Thanks again, xround.
