distro and driver support fo AMD X2 and nvidia

My new computer will arrive really soon.

main components
Athlon X2 3800+
Asus AN8-E
MSI Geforce 7600GS

Which distro should I use? 64-bit?
Will any distro support dual core?
Will using a distro that enables both cores mean that driver support for my video card will be poor?

If you feel like recommending a specific distro I have tried Mandrake/Mandriva and SuSE. Of those I prefer SuSE.

Well the only thing you need as far as I know is some multiprocessor kernel, which almost every distro should have.

If you want you can use a 64 bit distro, might be a little faster than 32 bit - though they will both work. But as far as I know some software still isn't availible on 64 bit systems, like flash player for instance.

For your video card you can get a driver from They have quite a good driver support for linux.

So I guess you can use Suse, they have a smp kernel for sure.
