Display Settings Problem in RH Linux8.0


I'm using LG 500G Monitor and P4@1.8 GHz System,Intel 845 GVAD2 original Motherboard with 256MB DDR.After Linux Installation completed,i'm not able to set Display at 1024*768 true color 24bit.There is no X windows system shown in my system.How can i retrieve this problem

Check whether u have given the correct refresh rates.U can edit /etc/X11/XF86Config
for changing the display settings.also check out /var/log/XFree.0.log and see urself what is happening.Or u can reconfigure X using xf86config or Xconfigurator.
