I'm using RedHat 8.0.

My config file says:

What to chance in the line:

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "NVIDIA GeForce 4 (generic)"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 16
SubSection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

It's not in that section

it's in the Monitor section

you should know the refresh rates for your monitor and confirm that they are not set correctly before you change it.

maybe a better way to do it would be with xvidtune
