Display problem Fedora 5

I change my resloution from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 and I get a fuzzy screen with no picture. Is there a way to boot to a command prompt and change it back to the prior resolution?

Yes

To force your computer to boot from terminal mode edit the file
/etc/inittab

and change

id:5:initdefault:

from 5 to 3..

To do this boot into rescue mode using your fedora core install cd..

good luck

Or maybe just try ctrl-alt-f1 to get a command prompt.....

Or, reboot and go into edit mode when grub comes up. Add "single" (without the quotes) to the kernel line and hit "b" to boot. This way, you do not have to go back and change the inittab again.

Note that your issue MIGHT have been caused by trying to set a resolution that was not in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file---or that something else in that file is not right.

It is capital X, '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'
