Display problem

Hi All

How do you change the display setting in redhat 9.x under the text mode, cause my linux is not starting startx, cause thier seems to be a problem loading the graphic card drive which is a Geforce 2 gt2 card, which I select to install under nvidia section, and now I can't load startx...!! I forgot how to do it, I had a write up on how to do it but it looks like I have miss place it ....!

Please help..........Arrrrrr...?

Try xf86config or xorgconfig, if you have Xfree or Xorg respectively.

To be Linux, or not to be Linux is not the question...?????

If you don't have a xf86config then try to run ./xf86config.py as root. I guess you must have python installed to run such file. If it runs answer all the questions and save. Or else you can go directly to /etc/X11/XF86Config and under the Section "Device" change the: Driver "nvidia" to Driver "nv" to use the old nvidia driver.

Hi Again

That file looks like this in the section

Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "nv"
VendorName "Videocard vendor"
BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS (generic)"
VideoRam 65536

It is already "nv" what I am look for is were do you go and setup the display setting under the text mode...when login as root....eg.(setup) for configuring the network and mouse and printer setup....!!!

If you installed the new nvidia driver then change nv to nvidia and see if it works. You can configure your xserver from scratch with xf86config, but if you don't have it, check RH to see what tool it has for this purpose.

Hi bathory

I give that a bash or bash it in with a 10Lb Hammer either should work....!!
