Display Port Audio desperately needs boost

Asus QX248 monitor came with speakers; but they're barely audible. (Wasn't going to bother with them but had another use for the ordinary speakers on this box.)

Is there any way that this output can be boosted somehow? Or are these speakers just dead-weight?

Typically audio settings are the problems with no sound, no mic, or level issues.

Have you looked at properties and tried anything?

For additional help, perhaps cite your distribution and version and also any information you have for audio speakers detected on your system.

DisplayPort is basically HDMI - you need to look at your audio settings.

The monitor probably has it's own audio levels in it's menus.

In addition to setting levels in linux. You can also run jackdbus or pulseaudio over jackdbus to boost audio to > 100% levels. Not sure what the magic sauce is there but it can be quite loud on my pinebook pro. And even audible levels on my OG pinebook. Not to imply good quality sound once past 100%.
