Display error - Help!
I have just installed Redhat Linux 9. But the resolution was too high (about 1900x.... i don't remember), so I edited the file /etc/X11/XF86config to make it 1024x768 (my favourite resolution). Maybe this resolution is not supported so it crashed :( However I had made a backup, so I logged in rescue mode to restore, but only the system files were mounted. I don't know what to do now! I don't want to reinstall it. Please help me!

:D OK I fixed it, but I can't change the resolution to 1024x768 :( My video card was SiS 650_650GL_650GX_651 (for Windows), but there is no driver like that in Linux, so Linux detected it as VESA driver (generic) and the smallest resolution for it is 1280x960. Please help me!!!

The vga driver will do 640x480 at 4BPP.
Try the vga driver. |
I changed the Monitor type, and it's OK now! Thanks anyway! :D
