disk space unnecessarily full
 
hi, am just new in linux. my / directory shows 50% used space, yet i don't seem to see which directory is eating up disk space. can anyone help?

Hi,

As root goto the root directory (/) and use the following command: du -sch *

This will show you the dir sizes, zoom in and repeat the process.

BTW: 50% does say that much, depends a bit on the size of the disk(s) and what is installed.
