disk info from perc card

ok, first i have to say that i am very new to linux. i am trying to do a server inventory to include all important info (man/model/ip/cpu/patch/mem...etc). i'm not having any problems on the solaris boxes displaying hdd info (quantity & capacity) using the format command. but on the redhat/ fedora machines, 'format' is not recognized.
these machines use a perc card for raid and if i use 'fdisk', only 1 logical drive appears.
so my question is: how can i communicate with the perc card to tell me the status of each individual drive (to include quantity & capacity)?

also, the disks are scsi and i can't reboot (company server)

and welcome to LQ!

I've never heard of that model of a RAID controller. What does the output of
lspci look like? And does dmesg tell you any more about the RAID hardware?

Some controllers do give you an overview of the attached drives...

thx for the reply. lspci doesn't show anything useful and dmesg tells me this about the drives:

scsi0 : percraid
Vendor: Dell Model: PERCRAID Mirror Rev: V1.0
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02
SCSI Device sda: 71091456 512-byte hdwr sectors (36399 MB)

that is the closest i get to any drive info, but i wanted the individual physical drive info, not the info for the 1 logical drive. thx for the suggestions, though.
