Disk I/O errors in Linux

Hi ,

I searched for this in the forum and i didn't get the answer for this. Can anyone let me know how to check for Disk I/O errors in Linux (hard errors and soft errors). I know that there is a command iostat -nE in Solaris but i'm not getting anything in linux. I'm Using RHEL 4.6 AS. Please help me .

If there were I/O errors dmesg' output would tell you about them

Review the man pages for:
  • fsck
  • smartctl
And by that I mean... stop and read every piece of these pages (and all pages which link to them). Then... Google them, and read carefully.
