Disk error message

I get the following error message when I log in :
ldm_validate_partition_table(): Disk read failed.

What's happening here?

I unplugged my CompactFlash reader, rebooted, and I did not get the message that time. I think the reader was the problem, that was the first time I had ever booted with it connected
