Unhappy disk cache

57% of my memory is used as a "disk cache". Is this necessary? I have Mandrake 10 with 382 mb of ram which is mostly used, with little left free. Can I change this to free up more physical memory?

Basically, the cache is dynamic i.e. if running processes require more or less memory the amount of cache will change accordingly. No point in having a ton of RAM if it isn't being used for something
