Disabling SSH and everything else

I'm using Slackware 9 and want to disable all the daemons i don't need (practically all of them).

I've searched the web and have managed to disable the FTP, Finger and a few other services by editing my inetd.conf file, but ssh, smtp, sunrpc, x11(?), printer and submission are still running.

Any help would be appreciated.

'chkconfig --list' will give all the services that are registered.

you can use 'chkcofig servicename off' to stop the service

'man chkconfig' for more info

Are you root? If so try specifiying the full path:

/sbin/chkconfig sshd off
