Disable screensaver in slack 9.1 without any x or sth

Hi I wonder how to shut off the screensaver/powersaver in slack 9.1 with only the "command prompt"(someone tell me what its really called?) ive tried "setterm -powersave" off but i only get " "cannot (un)set powersave mode" and ive have searched the forum thats how i come up with the "setterm" command but im really new with linux and dont know anyone that good with it so please help me.

That was well worth a wasted ignorant post, I'll help, Ice: (Maybe that's why this board is here? )

You're probably trying to setterm within an X session, this command only works on the linux console. Bet if you try it on the linux console, you won't get an error.

If you want to change DPMS sets in X, the command is xset. In the startup config of your X window manager of choice, you probably want xset -dpms

That should do the trick!
