Disable GRUB

Hi,

I'm new to Linux. I have a dual boot system with Suse 9.1 pro and Win XP. Recently I wanted to reinstall windows xp, so I tried to boot from the xp cd, but it seems that GRUB always boots first, and the xp cd never gets booted.

Suse's tech support offered two solutions but they don't work:

1. Use the "restore MBR from hard disk" feature in YaST's bootloader configuration to restore to the previous MBR configuration. But I manipulated GRUB before, so the last MBR configuration was not the one that came with windows.

2. Boot from the xp cd and repair install. Since I can't boot from the xp cd in the first place, this is out of the question.

Are there any ways to disable GRUB, or boot from the xp cd with GRUB installed?

Thanks!

Will

Hi Masand,

My bio is configured with CDROM as top priority. I can boot from the SuSE cd but not the xp cd.

Thanks!
