Disable backup

Hello everyone! Does anybody know how can I disable the auto-backup files that the system creates every time I edit something?

Thanks in advance,
Cyhaxor

Assuming you mean the some.file~ files created by vim, you can edit your ~/.vimrc to include:
Code:
set nobackup
set nowritebackup
See the comments at http://www.vim.org/tips/tip.php?tip_id=20.

If you're not using vim, please specify which text editor you are using, and which backup files you mean (how are they named?).

Look in either the Tools or Settings menu; configure Kate (or whatever the application). In Kate, go to Open/Save and de-select the backup option.

There is probably something similar in Kwrite.
