difficulty to ping the network

Well,
I have installed Slackware linux 9.1 previously.
Though it showed my NIC as AMD PCI net 2 and it worked fine.
Now, I have installed Slackware 10 and no network now!!!

Code:

# lspci
01:0a.0 Ethernet Controller Myson Technology Inc SURECOM EP-320x-S 100/10M Ethernet CPI Adapter

#gcc -v
3.3.4

#ping xyz
Network is unreachable

I tried a driver from driver-guides.com which is mtd81x.c, compiled it, but it's giving some errors..

Any idea???
Or reinstall Slackware 9.1??

And post the errors you get when you compile and modprobe the driver you're trying to build. Are they the samre as reported by someone else upothread?
