Difficulty installing Fedora Core 2 Software in external hard disk

I have Inspiron 530 from Dell. My book came with 4 Red Hat Linux Fedora Core 2 Software disks. As instructed I put the first disk (which is bootable) and restarted the computer, pressed F12, chose boot from CD drive. Computer tried got to first screen, and then got stuck at language selection. No mouse pointer; enter key didn't do anything. What am I doing wrong - help appreciated.

did you test the installation media? sounds like you might have a duff disk.

download the iso and try again would be my suggestion!

fedora is at 11 and 12 will be out in a few months.

it is SO OLD in fact that it will not install on NEW hardware.

download and install fedora 11 .
