differnce between opned ttys

i have noticed someone redirect output of something to other opned tty so i made an assumption that he has some issues with the current tty
what opned ttys can differ i think that they are the same opned instance so if i got a problem with one i will get with the other

I have a hard time trying to understand your question, put more effort into making it understandable.

assumptions can get one into trouble. he may have just wanted it to go to a different terminal (tty) because the one he was on is using the xwindow, I assume, so two assumptions which is correct?

if you're in trouble in one tty going to another one, by experience is, if an app in my gui/wm/dt is screwing me up I sometimes switch to a different tty to kill it.

you'd have to ask the one sending the output to a different tty why he is doing that.
