different panel in each workspace


am using gnome , is it possible to give each workspace different panel or different view of panel ?

I have not found a way.

I know that, in an earlier version of KDE (I haven't done much with v. 4.x), I could have different backgrounds for different workspaces, but Gnome doesn't even seem to allow that.
