Different IP Address running on Network

Hi

How do i implement different IP address on my Network

for example:

my current route is 192.168.0.1 up to 255
IP address : 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1

I want to implement or run in my network other IP Address which is 192.168.1.1 while im using 192.168.0.2
because when I tried to ping 192.168.1.1 something cannot be reached or request time out if I used first route 192.168.0.2

Please anyone can help me

Thanks

Changing IP Addresses

Do some reading before jumping in to this.

Using Google search: changing ip addresses+configure+linux network

With that search I found a good list of links that match what your request. If you use the same search and read whats in those links you will learn a great deal. My recommendations are below.

Here is what your looking for:

http://linux-ip.net/html/basic-changing.html

If you go to this link (The main index for the guide above.), you will have the scope of IP layer at your fingertips:

http://linux-ip.net/html/linux-ip.html (Feel free to alter the url to its main page and check the links.)

Good luck and feel free to post back with questions.
