Differences between the Student Edition and Professional edition of Suse
I'm just starting out with Linux and want to know whether there are any differences between the Student Edition and the Professional Editions of SuSe Linux 9.1:Pengy: :confused: :confused:

I am as new as you are, but I think the best way to find out is to actually install and try out both version.

in professional edition u get to customize it more
|
Does that mean you get less apps?
Does that mean you get less apps or that you can't change the way it looks as much?

I was not aware that SuSE had a Student Edition. The comparison between SuSE 9.1 Professional and SuSE 9.1 Personal is at their website;
http://www.suse.com/us/private/produ...pers_prof.html Most important difference (for me) is the lack of development packages in SuSE 9.1 Personal. Would make it difficult to install packages from source. |
Usually an "education version" of software is just lower priced.
SUSE lists their "student version" in the same line as their "upgrade version" for the same price. The upgrade version includes all the software that the professional version does but not all the printed manuals. Checking with SUSE (or a "student"?) will probably give you the correct answer. |
Thanks
Thanks to everybody for all the help!
