that when u type open in a terminal your pc beeps(the pc itself not the speakers)

If you're doing it in a GUI, open is not programmed for that.

It is used for a command-line console to open up a program in the first available console.

In my version of Red Hat you have to be root and it opens a program on tty8

im using mandrake 9.1 n im a noobie so i was messing around wit the terminal typeing in stuff n that how i figured it out
