Exclamation Dialup shortcut in the desktop

Hi I just want to put a dialup shortcut to the hnome/kde desktop so i can double click it and go to windows. In the windows it's so easy to do just right clciking and saying make a shortcut to the desktop. But I've no idea how to make a shortcut like that in linux. Can anybody give me a advice for that. I'm totally linux newbie and wanted to do this so badly so i can log into windows through linux and straightly browse these pages and try the new methods same time.

That would depend upon the desktop environment and/or window manager you are using (not given).

There is no way to do that in either KDE or GNOME. However, you can do something just as easy that you can't do in Windows - add a dialup applet to the panel. See my desktop here:

In the top middle you can see a thing in the panel with 2 lights, that is the dialup applet. To go online/offline, I just click the green circular button. Nothing to it. KDE probably has something similar.
