Dial-up Internet Configuration
I can't quite seem to find an easy "how to" to set up a dial up internet connection in Redhat 9
I am using GNOME, and when I booted up it seemed to find the modem all right. How do I set up an internet connection? I've tried but I don't think I am doing it correctly as it dials but then just hangs up after a few secs. I'm very sorry to be posting such easy questions, but I don't have a clue how to do this. Many thanks Boggit |
minicom and pppd are needed for dialup I believe.
I cannot walk you through this but it is possible, I had dialup working in Slackware with a 1.2.1 kernel some years ago. you will need to make a script with the normal ATDT(ISPPHONENUMBER) init strings, and password/username script for minicom to use, once a connection has been established pppd is used for network data control I believe. 'man minicom' 'man pppd' if you do not have theese install them. also Ive heard of kppp or something. |
wvdial or vwdial... try it...
