Red face Dial up configuration in SUSE 11

I am not able to configure dialup connection in SUSE 11. How to cofigure modem?
It detects my modem (motorolla SM 56), but I am not able to configure both Modem and the internet.

What driver are you trying to use?

A quick web search for this software modem chipset
turned up drivers for only a few rather old 2.4.x
kernels, and no 2.6.x kernels. Suse 11 ships with
a 2.6.25 or so, doesn't it?

The Motorola website describes a pci card with this
chipset as "compatible" with Linux, so maybe they have
a current driver for it. The page describing the modem is

You might try e-mailing them at:

Sorry I can't be more helpful.
