DHCP confusion
Ok I access the net via fiber DSL thru an ethernet card straight out to the NIC.
When my pc boots up (Slack 12) it hangs for a while on Triggering udev events (unrelated I think), then hangs for a while on dhcp, then again on the MAC address readout.
Seems like it's trying to get an IP at boot? If so, that's pointless of course. Should I disable DHCP because my ISP assignes my IP upon connection (pppoe?). I am confused at what network services I need performed at bootup versus what ones that need to wait till I establish a pppoe connection.
