Question Device Redirection

I finally figured a way to redirect output from the ttyS0 to a file. (I have a phone system that logs calls, they want 1.8k $$$ for the stupid software..) Is there a way I can either view the file as it is being populated or redirect to more than one place?

Ultimately I want this raw data to be dumped in to a database so I can manipulate it. The real challange will be doing all this while the information is constantly updated. TIO

Viewing a file as its getting longer is no biggy:

tail -f /var/log/answeringmachine (or whatever dir)

You can kill out of the running tail with ctrl+c. Its the most common way to read /var/log/messages while you're doing something wacko with the system or the kernel. Should work for this too.

I take it you just want to be able to watch as the file populates, possibly for debugging? nothing else?
