Hi All,

This there a command I can use to tell me who or that process is using a file or directory.

Thank you,
Peter

Well, actualy posting some useful info might help get you an answer?
I dont see a distro here. I dont see any hardware or system specs. I dont see any mention as to what type of process you want info on.. or what the busy device is...

Red Hat 7.0
System specs isn't important

I am trying to unmount a Novell volume using ncpumount:

Code:

ncpumount /mnt/novell
And I get the following message:

Code:

Could not umount /mnt/novell: Device or resource busy
I thought that there was a command that could be used on /mnt/novell to tell me the process or user that is currently using the directory.

Sorry if I caused offence.

Cheers,
Peter

I just remembered.

Code:

fuser /mnt/novell -v
Thanks anyway,

Peter
