Device Name setting in Settings -> System -> Overview of CentOS 7

Hi,

Confusing the Device Name found from Settings-->System-->Overview from CentOS 7, let's say 'abcdefg'

when I type the command of 'hostname' under root login it shows
abcdefg

but check /etc/sysconfig/network the information is
NETWORKING=YES
HOSTNAME=tuvwxyz

It is different....

Additionly I would like to know the difference between hostname and domain name in CentOS 7.

Thanks.

If you update hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network you have to reboot the server for the new value to take effect.

Hi,

I did know whenever change hostname I need to restart it. The result was coming after reboot. It is confused why hostname returned from /etc/sysconfig/network is different from terminal with 'hostname' typed.

Thanks
