Yes that makes sense. I guess I've just got to know how to test whatever applicable hardware necessary to determine if that's the issue or not? Not sure how to do that. Thanks.

Heck. I'm experienced and run the full so.
Update on this box earlier ran round about between 177mb and 230mb of ram with no browser open.
My IBM likes this distro.

OP has been saying he is on manjero xfce. Pretty sure he can run the same command I did to show his specs.
Which he was unaware of. Hence my full iso recommend.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/ant...inal/antiX-22/

You will want the big green button. I always md5sum check my downloaded isos because it only takes a few seconds.
Manjero can do it.

This is a wireless box that uses my old satellite dish as the wifi collector.
Hi, thanks for being helpful!
I ended up trying out the antiX 22 which, although my sound does not work at the moment and I am stuck at 94% of installation complete, is otherwise easy to navigate, I'm able to test it out, it seems intuitive with the menu at the bottom left and panel options - and it is much, much faster!
I did not run the md5sum because I still don't have clarity on how that's done.
I did recognize your username on the antiX forum and responded to someone else's post who also had the 94% completion issue. I don't exactly have much mileage on forums either though...

Trying out the md5sum in terminal within the antiX usb-booted OS.
I copied the filename by going in to rename the file. Followed the tutorial. I get:
cd /media/demo/easystore/PRESENT/OS DBAN/antiX-22_x64-full.iso
bash: cd: too many arguments

Here is the info from the same command in terminal but within the demo antiX - does it offer insight as to a memory issue or hardware issue? How do I verify? Thank you.

The installer fools a lot of folks. It sits at 94% because it is waiting to fill out boxes and type in like user name, etc.....
Once filled. The next button shows. Hit it. Type in what is needed. Keep going and it will finish install.

Youtube is chock full of antiX videos

https://www.youtube.com/@runwiththedolphin

Cuz I am not sure how you have antiX using 4 gig of ram approx. in your inxi report.

Edit: Your thinkcentre is gobs newer than my shop box.

I'll check out the YT videos there, thank you. I'm hoping my changes in preferences in Firefox will keep my tabs/passwords all active so I'm not constantly having to reenter everything to get into the forums and all else!

I figured out the installer block yes and the audio is now working which it was not for awhile there.

Is there a relatively simple way to test my PC memory or whatever hardware to be sure that's not going to be an issue later?

RAM usage reduced after installing to HDD.

$ inxi -v2

I'm in the ZZZ... Manager now but have no ability to get icon view.

I installed and set up redshift - do you know how to set it up so that it will automatically take effect when my PC is rebooted?

Also, there's no distinction in trying to select between applications using alt+tab - is there a way to change that so it's clear what I have selected?

I hashed it out twice and just got a long string of characters. Does that mean it's good?

Ok. You dragged and dropped the iso file into the online checker

what are the numbers? I will check for you.

Or you can compare yourself

Code:
281e8fdfa5c5d970f64bc00f18c26124 antiX-22_x64-full.iso

You can try a theme change using control centre in the menu for the zzzfm problem.

Same string so it's all good then?

I did that just prior to getting redshift in following another tutorial for that.

Is there a way to get image icons in zzzFM? And to drag and drop from zzzFM?
