am currently trying to work on PAM. There are so many of these .so files. I am sure that these are the key ones. I think I need to just play around with these .so files in the conf files in /etc/pam.d to get any security setting to work.

A sample requirement could be that I want user A to be able to work on OpenOffice Writer and user B unable to work on OO Writer. I have many such requirements.

I tried googling for info on each of these .so files and also, good examples on how to implement them. Couldn't find any. Found some that gave single line expalantion to most of these .so modules. Does someone have any detailed HOWTO for PAM? Would be grateful.

This is really more something you'd do with file permissions on OO writer than with PAM. PAM controls authentication for various services usually related to logging into the system. If you don't want certain users to access certain programs, use standard file permissions (and ACLs if necessary) to do this trick. It's probably easier than hacking PAM to do it and then making all your apps work with PAM.
