Desprate help with SAMBA :(
Hi Friends,
I am a beginner to Linux and I am using Sarge. I am currently trying to create a file share network between my Windows XP and Sarge but having a lot of trouble. I have tried using tutorials but this causes problems. So far I have established that SMBD and NMBD are running. What shall I do now? I have my internet connection from Windows and am able to go online on my linux but I cannot share files. Please help :( :( |
I'll give it a go, i made a few notes on the occasions that i did this.
Have you editied your samba.conf file with the files you wish to export to from linux to windows? If so pls post. Do you want to share both ways i.e see windows files from linux box and linux files in you windows box ?? |
Also, are you running any firewalls on either box? Those can block file & print sharing services.

And do you have SWAT running? (i.e., Does localhost:901 in your browser's address connect you to the SAMBA configuration window?)
If not, you should start the swat service. It's a nice configuration interface. |
