Now i know this sounds silly, but can anyone please tell me how I run a programme after I have installed it.

I presume I have to make a link on the desktop to the executable of the prog I want to run, but I have looked in the docs that came with the distro, and I'm just getting more confused.

I have managed to install a couple of things using Kpackage,
Just need to know how to run them.I'm using Mandrake 7.1 with KDE, and have been for all of 2 days!!

If anyone could help, there will be one more happy taffy on this planet.

Hi, welcome to Linux!

To actually run a program you need to get to the directory in which it was installed, using either a terminal window, or the KDE file manager. I am not sure where they are located, but I think you click on the K sign to get up a list of menu's and then click on Home Directory, or Home **** whatever it is called. You can then navigate using the new window which has come up to find the file you wish to access. Remember you should only need to click once on something to load it up. What exactly is it that you want to load?

If you can run the program then let us know so someone can tell you how to set up a link to the desktop.
