Desktop does not start
Hi All,
This morning I started my RedHat box but after I entered username and the password the screen just freezes but the mouse is working. Well I tried to use "XFree86 -configure", but after that I tried again the same problem still there. I check the values of "DISPLAY" and "DISPLAYMANANGER" variables both of them were empty so I set the "DISPLAY=:0" and "DISPLAYMANAGER=xdm" and exported them but nothing new. I checked the "/etc/hosts" file cause I thought maybe the Xserver can not resolve my machine address but the file was unchanged and fine. I wonder how this problem has happened and how can I work it out. Thank you all fellows. |
Not much idea really, but might try right-clicking and double clicking and middle clicking. Might be an idea to do:
top to see what processes are running.:) |
Can you log in as root? If so, that would narrow it down to either a permissions problem or a problem with some specific settings that user has.
