Desktop configuration file cannot be opened
 
hi dear all,

i am not able to open desktop configuratuon file in open suse 11.1.
i think it could be due to absence of pluggins etc.

please tell me how to open it.

are you not able to see the file? also specify the filename(with location)

Based on the copious information you have thought to provide, I can recommend this method: "Shazam!"

However, if you could bring yourself to post some actual information, someone here will be very happy to offer a better answer.

KDE : use 'Open with' ... and choose e.g. Kwrite.

Gnome : cat something.desktop > a-new-file.txt

The "new file" can be edited ( If that's what you want)
or you can see the command : Exec=<command>
and use the command in a terminal, to see what happens.
