dell xps 15

Hello

Please could I ask advice? -
I am buying a new laptop, to be installed with Ubuntu (and to run ROS, Robotics Operating System). I am considering a Dell XPS 15 because I read that the XPS range (as well as the Dell Precision range) are friendly to Linux. Does it seem a good choice for a trouble-free installation? Or are there other laptops to also consider? (I need a reasonable GPU).

Note - I know there is a lot of great tutorial material for doing an install, but I also know that unanticipated problems can arise with some laptops - that's really what I am asking about.

(By the way, I am not in the US and the option of pre-installed Linux on a Dell laptop is not available in my country)

Thanks!

Dell is a good choice. Their support site has info on installing Ubuntu on the laptop.

Rule of thumb for "trouble free Linux installation":
a) do not buy anything that has been on the market less than a year
b) do not try to install a distro release that is older than the hardware

Thanks, looks like it could be a good choice, modulo that it's a currently-on-sale XPS 15, not an older model.
