Angry Dell Laptop - display problem


i loaded RHL9 on my Dell Laptop
When the install finished it is unable to start the X server. I get
a message saying it can't start X, if I click ok I can see details. Below
are the error messages:

Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

Fatal server error:
No Screens Found

It then asks if I want to run the configuration utility
(redhat-config-xfree86) which displays these values:

*ddcprobe returned bogus values:
ID: None
Name: None
HorizSync: None
VertSync: None

Couldn't start X server trying with a fresh confuration
*ddcprobe returned bogus values:
ID: None
Name: None
HorizSync: None
VertSync: None

Trying with card: ATI Rage 128 Mobility
Error, cannot start X server

This is my the Monitor and Screen sections from XF86Config

As far as i know, this because of incorrect drivers, i have tried to use redhat-config-

i use redhat-config-xfree86, error cannot use X server, PLEASE HELP, am i doing it right.......................

I recommend you check the Dell website or call Dell's support to find out what your video card characteristics are. Once you know, you can select properly from the choices the configuration wizard gives you.

Oh, and incidentally: You should not run Xwindows as root, but you need to be root when you configure it.
