Dell Inspiron 1525 (Cant get desktop effects to work!?!?!?!)

Hi everyone, this is my first post! I live in South-Africa and I am starting to play with Ubuntu, Im relative new to LINUX!

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 with VISTA on and reloaded it with UBUNTU!

I cant get my desktop effects to work, I know its only eye candy but I would like to have it!

If I enable "Extra" in "Visual Effects" the following mesg appears: Desktop effects could not be enabled! I am almost sure it must work, it has a Mobile GM695/GL960 graphics controller!

Can this be a wrong driver problem?

Please help!!!

Are all the drivers for the graphics card loaded? lspci command will give you info about it.
Also you need to install a package called compizconfig-settings-manager to enable the compiz 3d desktop effects. Open your synaptic and search for compiz and install the above mentioned package. It will enable the compiz.

Do you have internet working on Ubuntu?
Then go to System > Administration > Synaptic
Search for compiz. Compiz might be installed by default if you are using Hardy.
But you need to install compizconfig-settings-manager.
Once it is installed you will have "Advanced Desktop effects Settings" in system > preferences.
You can then enable the effects of your liking.
