Dell c510 / c610 256 MB RAM need help choosing linux for it
so i normally would just put ubuntu or mint on it, to have a frinedly interface.

but they both recommend 512 MB RAM so now i come here to ask if it would be bad to put ubuntu on this laptop /(or linux mint)

i mostly just want google chrome and watch movies on it.

oh , and i found some pretty old linux live cd and it didnt detect my wireless card.

so what do i download to put on this laptop?
windows xp to reinstall , ubuntu , linux mint or what other linux?? thanx

You can install any distro that you like just pick a light weight window manager, like ICEwm, FluxBox, OpenBox, Enlightenment, BlackBox. Xfce, or LXDE. Dont do Gnome, KDE, Unity or any of their forks because require more resources.

I should point you to Bodhi Linux ( which is a Ubuntu base with light wight applications.

If you download it try the liveCD first to make sure your hardware respond well to it.

Good luck to you!

thanks i will try bodhi when i have time to experiment but now i will get LINUX MINT lxde because it usually comes with propietary drivers inclueded so i dont have to compile or something else.

thanx solved.
