Dell 980 No Sound?

Guys,
Newbie here. We have some users with Dell 980's running RHEL that get no sound in RHEL and also in their Windows XP VM. I've logged in as root and still no sound.

When I run the command "alsamixer" I've turned up all the levels for Master and Speaker yet nothing works.

I believe this box has the realtek alc269 sound card. I've read some of the solutions on it but there doesn't seem to be a definitive fix for this issue. Do you guys have any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome to LQ.

Have you got a valid RHEL subscription? If so, you should contact them. After all, you pay for their support.
Otherwise, RHEL is not the best choice for a desktop system. You could try Fedora (a free testing ground for RHEL)

Don't get me wrong. We're here to help, but you pay a lot of money for something that you don't seem to use. Let them work for the money they earn

Gotcha. I'll post the details if I find out anything that solves this issue.

That's an excellent idea. This way someone else facing a similar problem will also benefit from it.
