deleting menu items
I'm running Fedora Core 2 on kernel 2.6.6 with gnome. I have a question....I'm trying to find out how to delete menu items ( I'm trying to clean up my Desktop ). I know if you right click on the item you can remove but I'm getting a strange "item is on readonly disc" error. Even as root login I can't delete them or modify the permissions. What do I have to do to change permissions on these items, so I can delete them.

Does Fedora not have a neat little menu editor?
|
How would I go about doing it from a terminal screen?

finally...
I found the nessicary .desktop files in usr/share/applications and deleted my unwanted icons. |
