Deleted files?

Im very new to linux. I have searched around. But I couldnt find anything regarding my question.

Basicaly what I did was install HLDS steam in ssh on one of the user directories, hlduser1, who I have created using Direct Admin. I then deleted the user in Direct Admin, and it deleted all his files and info.

BUT there is some sort of files being trace linking back to the user?......

My problem is when I logged in ssh as root and enter:

$ locate hlds

/home/hldsuser1/hlds/valve/sound/UI/buttonclick.wav
.
.
.
.
goes on for awhile and shows everything that it found.

When I enter:
$cd /home/hldsuser1

I get this....
-bash: cd: /home/hldsuser1: No such file or directory

I figured everything was deleted but why are those files still showing up with the locate command. And why cant I switch into that /home/hldsuser1 directory? Are these files using diskspace?

hldsuser1 is not listed when I use the ls command in root, but it does list other users.

"I figured everything was deleted but why are those files still showing up with the locate command."

The locate command builds its own file showing everything in the system. The results of a locate will be out of date until the next time locate builds its location file. You probably have a cron job which rebuilds the location file once a day.
