I deleted a directory in my /home directory called xmame-0.83..... When xwindows loads it shows an error can not find folder xmame-0.83..... how do I remove the folder and let xwindows know not to look for that folder?

I would try:

rpm -e xmame-0.83

That should uninstall it.

I should clarify. It was not an rpm package. I compiled it myself, but i did not run make install, this is why I am stumped.
