Delete file in /var
Hi
What are the files that are save to be manually deleted in /var directory? |
depends how your system is set up, you can probably get away with deleting every file in that directory, but it might make your system start fussing, so id suggest you be more specific about what you want deleted as some things that are sometimes put in there are require by certain programs in order to run right
|
To be a bit **more** safe, I'd drop back to runlevel one before deleting files, and then return to rl3 afterwards to see how the changes are effecting the system before a shutdown/reboot:
telinit 1 remove files (after inquiring further as to which ones to delete as noted above by SciYro) telinit 3 And see how the changes affect the applications you run. Be prepared to be "in the dark" meaning, out of the gui. Cool |
Thanks guys! I'm used to the 'dark' sometimes:)
